Ah! My Goddess Ch. 257 Manga Review

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

As Keiichi, Belldandy, Urd, Skuld, and Glühendes Herz move to the next objective, Skuld warns Keiichi about being cocky since he was of assistance to her “oneesama.” They are met by the little girl mazoku from before, who warns them that they are heading to Slyum World, where there’s a secret way to pass the next woman. Entering the next room, they find a muscular female mazoku waiting for them. She issues a polite greeting before sending a giant pillar their way. It almost hits the little girl mazoku, who’s not happy about this and leaves.

Slyum continues her “greeting” by showing them her fist and then destroying part of the floor with it in her attack. Her next attack causes Belldandy to erect a barrier, but to the shock of the goddesses, Slyum is able to break it with her fist. Slyum explains that her fist can break anything. Urd decides to school Slyum by showing her that some things can’t be broken with a fist. Slyum accepts the challenge, so Urd summons one of her lightning bots. Slyum “breaks” it with her fist.

Thoughts/Review: I guess the little girl mazoku (who’s name I still don’t know) is going to be their tour guide, introducing them to each new mazoku they have to fight. I still say she’s secretly working for Hild since she did mention there is a way to get passed Slyum.

As to Slyum, I couldn’t begin to think of what might defeat her other than doing something where the power of her fist is either neutralized or reflected back to her.

I did laugh at Urd’s braggart moment when she felt sure that Slyum wouldn’t be able to break lightning with her fist. Having Slyum shatter Belldandy’s barrier should have been proof enough, but Urd is Urd and she likes doing things the hard way sometimes. I do hope Urd proves useful down the road though. ^_^

I also had a chuckle at Skuld’s sarcastic acceptance that Keiichi did something positive for Belldandy.

Beyond that, not a lot to say at this point. I’ll be interested to see where this sub-arc goes.
